Most important BLUE CARD MUST BE SIGNED BY SCOUTMASTER PIROR TO WORKING ON MERIT BADGE
The 2010 Powhatan Dirstrict Counselor list can be obtained upon request.
Merit Badge Procedures:
As the scout achieves his Tenderfoot, Second Class and First Class ranks, he will be anxious to begin merit badge classes with the older boys. After a Scout earns his First Class rank, he is eligible for many new things. He is able to run for position of leadership (a requirement to earn the subsequent ranks of Star, Life and Eagle). He is also able to devote his attention to earning merit badges. The Process for this is simple but compliance is necessary to earn a Merit Badge.
- Choose a merit Badge
- Fill out a blue merit badge card, which is obtained from the merit Badge adviser, and have it signed by Scoutmaster.
- Present the blue card to the Merit Badge adviser to have a merit badge counselor assigned to the Scout.
- Notify the merit badge counselor of intent to work on the badge and have the counselor complete his portion of the card.
- Work on the badge, have the counselor sign off on the blue card as requirements are completed
- When completed, retain the applicant's portion and give the counselor his portion as back-up proof that the badge is done.
- Have the Scoutmaster sign the card for completion of the badge.
- Turn in the completed card to the Advancement Chairman .
Congratulations!! The Badge will be presented at the Next Court of Honor.

The four vintage merit badges that will count toward rank advancement are being released for the centennial year only, giving Boy Scouts a hands-on opportunity to experience the exciting past of the BSA.
Earning these historical merit badges should be more than just earning another merit badge. By reading these merit badge pamphlets and completing the requirements as close to how a Scout of 1910 would have done them will be your true growth experience.
